Battle of the Bangers is back this Saturday!

To celebrate British Sausage Week (30th Oct – 5th Nov) this weekend stallholders at Beccles Farmers Market will be battling it out to win the annual battle of the bangers competition.

Visitors will have the chance to try a selection of tasters and vote for their favourites. The winning sausage producer will receive the coveted ‘Best Banger’ trophy which is handcrafted by our resident woodturner.

Introducing this year’s contestants and sausage flavours:

  • Allards – Pork and Apple
  • Yew Tree – Chicken and Sage
  • Hundred River Farm – Beef and Horseradish
  • Friends Farm – Alburgh
  • Barnards – Merguez (Spicy Lamb)
  • Samphire – Classic Lincolnshire

There will also be seasonal pumpkin themed delights in the cooking demonstration starting at 10:30am, not to mention the usual BBQ and hot drinks that are available in the cafe area.

We’re a traditional farmers market with 30 local stallholders who all live within a 30-mile radius and are predominantly food and drink producers. Including the new ‘Perfect Crumb’ bakery with dairy and lactose-free cakes. The market will be open between 9am – 1pm and is held twice a month at Ellough Airfield, Beccles, NR34 7XD.

Yet again, one lucky supporter will be walking away with a £30 hamper of market prizes in our special 50p raffle (surplus profits will be used to support market promotion).

We are sorry to announce that Dan from Real English Fruit will not be attending the market with his apples until further notice – We will have a card to be signed this weekend to send him our best wishes.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday – Taste buds at the ready!

(Market stallholders are subject to change but usually include a selection of; locally reared beef, pork, chicken, lamb, fresh veg, handmade jams, marmalades & chutneys, freshly caught and traditionally smoked fish and cheese, wood turners, carvers & jewellery makers, hand-made chocolate truffles, pressed apple juice, free-range woodland eggs and various baked goods… phew!)
